Incredible Events

The following are a few activities and festivities you might enjoy this Labor Day in San Diego.

  • Dimensional Art Exposition / US Sand Sculpting Challenge – Every year, hundreds of thousands of people swarm to see master level sculptors create unbelievable 3D works of art. You can visit a number of sites where these world-class sand sculptures and three-dimensional art pieces are created by true masters. This event is spread out over a four-day period and is something the entire family would enjoy.

  • Festival of Sail – Another fun event for this year’s Labor Day is visiting the Festival of Sail: the largest Tall Ship festival on the west coast. For a full four days, North Embarcadero is completely transformed into a nautical theme park complete with a petting zoo, craft activities, cannon battles, a beer garden, stage performances, and of course, the chance to visit ships and their crew.

  • Barona Powwow – This annual event is unique and fun. As part of the Labor Day festivities, you can join the Barona Band of Mission Indians and become immersed in their culture. Events include drums, camping, and dance contests with dancers all vying for a prize of more than $60,000.

  • Julian Grape Stomp Fest – If you are looking for something different, this is the right event. At the Stomp Fest, tons of grapes are stomped on and then poured into wine barrels. Included in the event is dancing, Bocce Ball competitions, Italian music, wine tasting, and plenty of activities for children.

  • Summer Nights at SeaWorld – Although SeaWorld is a great place to visit all year long, during Labor Day there are special nighttime shows hosted. In addition to watching huge orcas perform, there is a plethora of other animals to see. The event is topped off with a fantastic blue fireworks display.
